...HEAVY RAINFALL IS STILL POSSIBLE LATE THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY... Numerous showers and thunderstorms are still expected along and behind a cold front Thursday evening through Friday. A combination of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico interacting with a tropical connection originating from the Pacific ocean will result in showers and storms capable of intense rainfall with amounts between one and two inches possible across parts of central and south central Kansas by Friday morning. Additional rainfall is possible across south central and southeast Kansas Friday afternoon into Saturday, which could push rainfall totals over two inches. While area rivers and creeks have returned to more normal levels since the heavier rainfall in early September, additional heavy rainfall could result in significant rises by Friday or Saturday. Check later forecasts and outlooks for updates.
